Stories the feet (and body) can tell

unnamedIf you listen, you can hear what your feet have to tell you. It can be as simple as telling you “feeling good” and ready to take you where ever you desire … down the street or off on a hiking trail. Or, quite possibly that message may be more like “feeling tired”, “why did you wear those heels?”or maybe a soreness felt deep down in  the bones.

During a reflexology session your feet, and body, can communicate to the practitioner more than you can imagine. There have been times when the message is blatantly obvious like the coloring of the feet, or the way a foot rests in the relaxed position while on the massage table or in the reflexology chair.  Other times the message isn’t quite as apparent to the naked eye, it is actually felt in the tissues and structure of the foot.

I find the messages received from client’s feet, and bodies, to be quite intriguing. At times the message is almost coded, not exactly clear-cut, and requires putting some puzzle pieces together.  Most times I am simply to give the message, not figure out the puzzle.

The body can whisper bits and pieces of information even while cradling the cranium / skull at the beginning of a Cranio-Sacral Reflexology session. Telling me where there is stress and tension, areas out of alignment, places where I am to focus my attention during the treatment.

The ultimate goal is helping that particular client’s body to find balance.  The balance I am referring to is homeostasis within the body.  (Think of homeostasis as a state of being – when the body is internally self-regulating in order to ensure its ability to  adapt to external changes. For example: on a hot summer day our body begins perspiring/sweating in order to cool down – the sweat meets the outdoor air and evaporation begins, cooling the body down.)

(FYI: there is a book  Original Works of Eunice D. Ingham: Stories the Feet Can Tell Thru Reflexology / Stores the Feet Have Told Thru Reflexology published in the 1930’s)

As time passes,  I look forward to sharing with you some of the messages received from the feet and body during Cranio-Sacral Reflexology sessions.
