Now more than ever we are faced with the undeniable need for connection and change. Many are dealing with feelings of isolation and fear as we all do our best to stay healthy during this outbreak of a new virus in our world. At times our current situation may seem too much. Too many recommendations to follow, too many places to avoid, too much news creating more fear than educating or informing.
What can we do, as individuals, to help ourselves shift these negative situations and thoughts? How can we make a difference and feel more connected?
Over a year ago I took a class on Bach®️ Flower Essences. It changed things forever for me, connecting me even more so to the plant kingdom. I have been partaking in a “Custom Blend” of flower essences (adding drops to my water or directly under my tongue) on a daily basis since October 2018.
I have gone though my life being an empath without always knowing it. As a child I was very emotional and “sensitive”, many family members may have thought it came with puberty and hormonal changes. Back in 1988, as a new nurse in an Intensive Care Unit, I was easily drawn-in to my patient’s situation along with their family stress and strains due to the health concerns so evident in the ICU and wanting to help them. Fast forward, now as a bodyworker – first a licensed massage therapist and now a reflexologist – I have always felt the effects of stress and change within the human body thanks to that “sensitivity” I seem to have been born with. At times the effects of feeling so much has caused me to experience health concerns physically, emotionally and mentally. However, much has changed and improved over the years as I learned various ways to work with my gifts and I can report … Ever since the flower essence class and starting to take custom blends of different essences on a daily basis, I have become aware of the power of their higher vibration and its effects on the human body and even house plants!
Yes, you read that correctly … even house plants! Let me explain things further …
Times of change bring loads of stress along with it. We all have heard, read, or been told how stress has physical effects on every system of the body. Many have told us there are numerous ways to reduce stress in our lives: meditation, walks in nature, yoga, massage, even altering your diet can help with stress levels. But how can we make changes in our body, down to the cellular level, in order to restructure and become more resilient in a natural (non-chemical) way?
Changing and improving our vibration! You may ask, now what exactly are you referring to when it comes to improving our vibration?
Vibrational Medicine is a healing approach based on the an the Einsteinian concept of matter as energy, and human being are a series of complex energy fields in dynamic equilibrium. Dr. Richard Gerber (1954-2007), author of multiple books on Vibrational Medicine, including the book Vibrational Medicine: The #1 Handbook of Subtle-Energy Therapies, stated in an article: “Vibrational Medicines allow us to not only heal the physical body directly, but to work at the mental and the emotional and the spiritual levels as well.” He then specifically listed healing modalities like homeopathic remedies, flower essences, therapies such as Therapeutic Touch and spiritual healing.
Dr. Edward Bach (1886 – 1936) a researcher, pathologist, bacteriologist, and immunologist, was vividly aware of the effects of illness on the body. However, he also recognized the effects a negative state of mind, or negative and traumatic events, have on the human body. He was an well-educated man and recognized that we have a series of energy bodies within our physical body. In a book he wrote, Heal Thyself, he stated “Materialism forgets that there is a factor above the physical plane which in the ordinary course of life protects or renders susceptible any particular individual with regard to disease, of whatever nature it may be. Fear, but its depressing effect on our mentality, thus causes disharmony in our physical and magnetic bodies and paves the way for (bacterial) invasion. The real case of disease lies in our own personality …”
Dr Bach also wrote, in Free Thyself, “This disharmony, disease, makes itself manifest in the body for the body merely serves to reflect the workings of the soul; just as the face reflects happiness by smiles, to temper by frowns. And so in bigger things; the body will reflect the true causes of disease (which are such as fear, indecision doubts, etc.) in the disarrangement of its systems and tissues.”
The flower essences were created to assist us to shift and change on an energetic level. This is where our systems have initially been effected, via negative emotions, and have disturbed our equilibrium within the body. It is here that the flower essences can balance and restore homeostasis and equilibrium within our body!
Simplicity – flower essences teach us that things do not need to be complicated, yet offer a complete, effective, safe, yet simple way to relieve stress and counteract fears and overly strong emotions.
Humility – flower essences encourage a journey of self-discovery of personal issues and conflicts you may have which are causing disharmony in your body, mind and spirit. Allowing yourself to be open to self-reflections and personal growth. The flower essences help with understanding the concerns that have been holding you back from becoming the person you are meant to be and living the life you want to live.
Compassion – flower essences foster a concern for yourself and others. They are facilitators of change and bring special gifts of compassion and understanding to all.
A flower essence has the ability to gently and safely release negative emotional states by flooding the body with positive (higher) vibrations which has effects down to the cellular level … shifting and changing our physical body. The essences are a catalyst for the release of negative emotions in order for the higher positive effects to be felt. Know that this is not a once and done, answer to everything that may be physically bothering you right now, sort of panacea. The effects of flower essences are subtle and happen over time. The essences do not have the side-effects of most medications, they do not tranquilize, or take the place of an antidepressant if one is truly needed.
This is a highly individualized way to heal yourself; there is no specific length of time needed for the internal shifts to occur; however many who choose to add flower essences to their daily regime feel the effects within 2 – 6 weeks. A commitment to use your custom flower essence blend daily is necessary in order for the essences to be effective. When considering a blend, we must take in to consideration how long you have been dealing with particular emotions and / or issues. The longer you have been dealing with things, the deeper the emotions are ingrained in your tissues which will require a longer reaction time for your body to respond to the flower essence blend.

No, I didn’t forget about the house plants comment above. When transplanting the beloved hanging plant found in my office there was much trauma to the root system. The previous pot had caused some binding of the root structure and when I transplanted the plant to a larger pot I needed to tease out the roots more than usual. This caused the plant to become quite wilted and the nurse in me decided it was quite traumatic, a shock, to the plant. So, what could I do to alleviate some of the stress I caused the plant? I pulled the Rescue Remedy Bach®️ Flower Essence blend out of my purse and placed some drops directly on the leaves of the plant as well as adding some to the soil in the pot! I continued to offer this helpful remedy to my plant over the course of a couple of weeks. She is looking quite majestic now as she soaks in the sunshine flowing through the windows here at the office. 🌱 🌿 🌱 All is well.
