What is Cranio-Sacral Reflexology?

Cranio-Sacral Reflexology is a complementary therapy, which can be undertaken on its own or together with your regular medical care.

It is a holistic therapy that aims to help the whole individual; and to support the body’s own healing abilities. By reducing stress and allowing the body to truly relax, the body can repair and recuperate.

Dr. Faure-Alderson has taken reflexology to a new level through the integration of Osteopathy, Cranio-Sacral Therapy and Reflexology. This is an advanced level of reflexology which harnesses the extraordinary potential of the creative brain to bring homeostasis and health to the body.

This unique form of reflexology is effective in treating trauma and stress related conditions by balancing the distribution of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) within the four ventricles of the brain. Pressure applied to the specific points on the feet stimulates and re-harmonises the Cranial Rhythm – Primary Respiratory Movement (PRM). The movement of CSF can be felt in the feet as a pulse, or a wave, which is quite distinct from the pulse of the heart.

A trained Cranio-Sacral Reflexologist can read and interpret the cranio-sacral  rhythm and appreciate its movement throughout the whole body.  Cranio-Sacral Reflexologists are able to perceive dysfunction by palpating specific points found on the feet and on the cranium. Cranio-Sacral Reflexology combines the use of pressure on specific areas of the foot, which relate to the 12 cranial nerves, and to the fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord (CSF). The key ingredient in all sessions is balancing the three diaphragms and the autonomic nervous system by using specific protocols.

The rhythm of the Cranio-Sacral System is fundamental to life and offers an opportunity to evaluate the health and well-being of the individual.
